Job Description

Proton, founded by CERN scientists, is building a better internet where privacy is the default. As a profitable and independent company, we empower millions of users globally with encrypted tools like Proton Mail and Proton VPN. We are looking for an engineer to join our small Windows VPN team, where you will work with a diverse group of high-caliber professionals to create meaningful, privacy-preserving products.

Your tasks

• Design, build, maintain, and evolve Proton’s applications on Windows.
• Manage the entire application lifecycle, including feature design, implementation, CI/CD configuration, deployment, and incident response.
• Collaborate with product managers and engineers across the company to deliver products used by millions.
• Help define and improve our testing stack, including unit, integration, and automated GUI tests.

Your profile

• Strong experience in C# and .NET development.
• Expertise in building Windows desktop applications using frameworks like WinUI or WPF.
• Solid understanding of MVVM architecture, dependency injection, and asynchronous programming.
• Proven ability to write maintainable, well-tested, and scalable code.
• Experience in driving change and leading complex technical projects.
• Working knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS) and an interest in VPN technologies.
• Familiarity with Git-based workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and observability tooling.
• Rust experience is a significant plus but not required.
