Job Description

Proton, founded by CERN scientists, is the world's largest encrypted email service. As part of the Mail Security and Abuse (MSA) group, you will help build sophisticated systems that combine human intelligence and machine learning to protect users from spam, abuse, and account compromise. The team operates in a startup environment with a strong focus on impact, autonomy, and high-caliber collaboration.

Your tasks

• Design, build, and operate complex systems for mail delivery, spam, and abuse prevention.
• Develop user-facing features involving both frontend and backend software.
• Lead planning and development processes, potentially taking on Product or Project Manager roles.
• Ensure operational excellence for systems and their interactions with other services.
• Work with custom systems in Python, the main Proton API in PHP, or web apps in React.

Your profile

• Deep experience with backend development in Python, PHP, or Go.
• Experience with frontend development using JavaScript, React, TypeScript, or jQuery.
• Proven track record building complex production systems and handling data processing.
• Ability to work autonomously and lead the entire development process from design to QA.
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
