Job Description

Scandit is building a new generation of computer vision technology for retail, and we are looking for a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to take this product from zero to one. You will own the technical direction for video-based action recognition in real-world retail environments, working closely with product, data, and engineering stakeholders.

• Define and prioritize technical experiments to validate key risks such as precision, recall, and latency for CV models in retail stores
• Design and implement end-to-end CV/ML pipelines on real-world video data, from ingestion and preprocessing through training, evaluation, and deployment
• Set up and refine human annotation workflows to create high-quality training and test datasets from video streams
• Select, adapt, and optimize state-of-the-art computer vision architectures for action detection in unconstrained environments
• Provide technical leadership in video-based computer vision and help shape best practices and future hiring for the team

• University degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or a related technical field
• Significant hands-on experience in computer vision and machine learning, including designing, training, evaluating, and deploying models in production
• Proven track record of building end-to-end CV/ML systems from zero to one, ideally commercial products
• Strong expertise with video-based pipelines and human action or behavior recognition
• Hands-on experience with vision transformers for temporal video understanding; experience fine-tuning Vision-Language Models is a strong plus
• Solid software engineering skills in Python and modern ML/CV frameworks
• Ability to work in a dynamic, high-uncertainty environment and communicate complex technical topics clearly in English (B2 or higher)

• Flexible, office, hybrid, or home working arrangements
• Attractive individual equity plan in a high-growth company
• People-first culture with hackathons, global team outings, and company celebrations
• Your birthday off
• Excellent office infrastructure optimized for hybrid working in Zurich
